Monday JUNE 1st, 2020 - The NEW WASHINGTON COMMUNITY Y is now open!


Tuesday - May 26, 2020 
Kalona YMCA Rec Center & Wellman Parkside YMCA are now welcoming members back! As the Y continues to serve our communities in the best & safest possible way, we have new procedures we will be following in order to keep you & staff safe. Please help us by being cautious of the signs that are posted throughout the facilities & social distance yourself from others. We will be asking screening questions upon entering our Y facilities and you may be asked to return to the Y, should you have any signs or symptoms, after a 10 day waiting period.
Also, there are some temporary rule changes during the first phase of re-opening.
- No one under the age of 12 without direct parent
- No guest day passes or Nationwide access
- No child watch
- No front lobby seating
- No use of drinking fountains, water bottle filling stations &
coffee stations
- No 24 hour access
- No more than 10 people in each space at a time, 1-hour limit
Please refer to posted signs for all other related issues moving forward or ask staff for guidance. We are so excited to welcome you back!

May 19, 2020 - Washington members who have Mens' and/or Womens' Fitness Lockers, please contact the Y to make arrangements to come and get their old lockers by May 29th. Please contact the Washington Community Y at 319-653-2141 between the hours of 9-11am or 12-4pm. Thank you!

COVID-19 UPDATE: May 14, 2020

We look forward to welcoming you back!
As the Y continues to serve its community in the best possible way, we have new procedures we will be following in order to keep you and the staff safe. There will be a limit of 10 person capacity in each area of the facilities & increase in strict hourly cleaning/sanitizing schedule. Please help us by being cautious of the signs around the building & social distance yourself from others.
The re-opening date for the Kalona & Wellman Facilities along with temporary operating hours, will be announced on Tuesday May 19th. The Washington Facility is tentatively planning on opening June 1st at the new location 520 W. 5th St. and will not be reopening the Y on the Square.
Other temporary restrictions for reopening at this time are as follows:

• 24 hour access will tentatively not be an option at this time.
• Pool will remain closed at this time due to state proclamation.
• Those 12 and older, currently have access to the building. Anyone
under 12 must be directly supervised by a parent.
• Nationwide memberships are suspended at this time by YUSA
Members only. No day passes at this time.

Letter to Members - Update response to Governor Ryenold's May 6th Proclamation

  • Child Care and Kid Konnection remain open on a limited basis per DHS, CDC and local health department guidelines.
  • Meals on Wheels Program is continuing to provide meals for the community.
  • The YMCA staff is continuing to work to deep clean and sanitize all areas of our facilities to be ready for your return.
  • There is no current updates from the Governor on when the facility will be allowed to reopen or further mandates.
